Background: This is how I came to be where I am today:
After 20 years establishing a career as a successful project manager in Information Technology, I was making a sizeable income; but not living my bliss. I felt drawn to helping people heal themselves, but was afraid to give up a career and steady income to start from scratch. That changed in 2009 when my Mom lost her year-long battle with breast cancer and subsequent complications after successfully beating it in 1995. She was 59. After that day, I made a decision not to be afraid. After witnessing the comfort and healing my Mom experienced in complementary care, I pursued medical massage, then Kinesio taping, Reiki healing, and Muscle Activation Therapy (MAT). These modalities and techniques make a powerful combination for assessing tissue constraints and releasing limitation using the body’s own resources. The Kinesio tape is also extraordinary in cases of lymphedema which is a common side effect for cancer, causing blocked fluid and swelling. By opening the Bliss Health and Healing Center, my goal is to give people a place to learn about complementary care, health services and healing practices that they can incorporate into their life to support their own journey to mental, physical, spiritual and financial health and fitness, to their own version of Bliss.
Contributions: These are a few ways I expect to contribute to the Bliss Health and Healing Center:
• Use my corporate organizational abilities and networking talent to seek strategic partners and showcase their skills as practitioners, workshop leaders, or teachers while keeping the Center profitable and aligned with the business plan.
• Hire more therapists and expand my business by maintaining a practice room at the Center.
• I’ll lead Kinesio clinics so people can experience what the tape feels like and how it works.
• I’ll organize and lead regular Reiki clinics at the Center so practitioners can improve their skills and people can experience a Reiki session in a comfortable group setting.
Passion: I enjoy many parts of my life, but my passion is:
Learning and sharing ideas related to physical, mental and spiritual well-being to help people heal themselves.
Talents: I’m skilled in many areas, but my talents or gifts are in:
• Working as an intermediary between technical and non-technical groups. If you need someone to talk to a group of software engineers or doctors then turn around and explain it to a group of people with no science or medicine in their background, I’m the first to volunteer. I’m comfortable in front of a crowd.
• Finding people who are passionate about their work and listening to them.
• Making homemade popcorn. It’s amazing every time. (If not, I start over.)
Money: If I had enough money to never have to work again, I would:
Hike, swim, bicycle and sail around the world looking for great views, sacred spaces, tea houses, spectacular food, sublime desserts, and red wine. Then write a series of books about it.
